Employee Spotlight: Jet Jet comes to Galveston by way of Midland, Texas and is a new employee at Galveston's 61st Street Fishing Pier. He enjoys working over the water and the family atmosphere of the pier. Jet likes working with his hands and one day wants to own his own land and build a self sufficient homestead. He would like to sell produce and other goods produced from this land. He is passionate about human rights and equality for all. Keeping with his desire to work with his hands, he enjoys origami as a hobby, and loves listening to music. He would love to go north to see the Aurora Borealis one day. One of Jet's favorite childhood memories is playing in the rare snowfall in Midland. He may not get to do that here in Galveston, but his love for the outdoors has endless possibilities. Employee Spotlight: Jaylin Jaylin has worked at Galveston's 61st Street Fishing Pier for about 8 months. He is from LaMarque, TX and has lived in the area all his life. Jaylin comes from a large family and is the proud father of a beautiful three year old daughter. His favorite part of working at the pier is being able to interact with the guests. Jaylin is a knowledgeable angler, and uses his experience to assist guests with fishing tips. Employee Profile: Baltimore Baltimore has been the Snack Bar Manager at Galveston's 61st Street Fishing Pier for almost 5 years. He moved to Galveston from his home town, Midland, TX, and is now a proud IBC. He loves the pier because he has met people from all over the world. After working for 30 years in the grocery business, he decided to quit his job and move to the beach, and now looks forward to going to work every day. Baltimore traveled to Hawaii last year and was overwhelmed by it's beauty. As a child, Baltimore was fascinated by the carnival and wanted to run away and join them. Instead he focused on learning how to cook and write short stories, activities he still enjoys. A long time resident of Galveston, Corinna was born in England and has also lived in Puerto Rico and San Francisco. She is mother to five and a new grandmother. She enjoys studying astrology and as a child, she wanted to be an astronaut. With so many in need this year, we have decided to host a food drive for the Galveston County Food Bank December 10th to December 25th! We will be offering loyalty points in exchange for donations. Here’s how it works! You will receive 100 loyalty points for every item donated up to 5 items. That is 500 points which equals a free admission on the pier on your NEXT visit. In order to get your points, you will need to sign in with the cashier and provide the your name and phone number, and how many items you donated. Your points will be available in 24 hours. Galveston County Food Bank suggested items to bring, and items we cannot accept... • Canned food- tomatoes, sauce, meat, tuna, soup, fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly • Meal in a can- chili, stew, ravioli… • Meal in a box- burger/tuna helper, macaroni and cheese… • Packaged-pasta, cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix, rice, beans • Hygiene - shampoo, toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, feminine products, deodorant For the safety of those we serve, the Galveston County Food Bank is unable to accept: • Open packages • Homemade food items • Perishable foods • Items with “expired” dates
